Just a week ago we got back from Norway, where this year’s European Championships in air guns were held. Actually, our accomodation was in Sweden, so we crossed the border to get to the range daily. It was great fun to be shooting at the Europeans again. I could have done better, but I still very much appreciate the experience. On top of that, it was my first larger competition that I could go to with Meelis and it made it extra special. It has been 6 years since I last shot at the Europeans and it was my first time to shoot in women’s, not junior women’s, class. I came in 51st out of 54 with the result of 362, Meelis came in 49th out of 61 with the result of 577.
We took a ferry from Tallinn to Stockholm and them drove (we went in our car) for about 9-10 h to get to our hotel. Next day we checked out the range and Meelis had his training. The day after that he competed, then the next day I had my training the day after that I competed, so it worked out well for us. On our way back we decided not to stay another day in Sweden (we thought we had to since there were no room on a ferry to Tallinn on Saturday) and we came back through Riga. It was extra 170 km but we saved a day and I could go to work the next day, so in the end, it worked out well. And by the way, Meelis has uploaded some pics from our trip and you can all check them out at http://kiisk.wordpress.com/2010/03/18/emi-pildid/
Our spring break just started today and I’m looking forward to some rest while the students are out of school. I have tons of papers to correct, but at least I have a week to do that in peace and quiet. One more term to go until the end of the school year…
